A lady pulled my hair…

Well I paid her to do it. For a long time I have struggled to get a decent hair cut because no hairstylist could comprehend that I had Asian hair and they couldn’t just cut it like they would “normal” hair… I have wanted to get a hair cut for a bit now but realized what better place to get my asian hair cut than in asia?

So, this morning I googled hair salons near me and when I saw a salon called “Luna de Salon” naturally I chose to go there. When we arrived they beckoned us to sit in their waiting area and approximately… hmm… 23 seconds later a small woman popped her head around the corner and said “haircut?” I nodded and she waived me over took my bag and pointed at a shampoo bowl, so I sat. This is when the hair pulling began, with no communication what so ever a different woman pulled me back into a shampoo bowl and from then on I was being aggressively scrubbed and sprayed with I think 4 different rounds of soap? She would lift my head from the back of my neck to get the underside then would promptly pull my head back into the bowl via my hair. Eventually this part was done and she tightly wrapped my head in a towel and left. I assumed this meant go to the salon chair, so I did. This is when I had 2 women messily blow drying my hair/face from either side as if they were competing to see who could blow more of my hair to the other persons side of the chair. I suppose this was one way to get my hair dry? At this point I was audibly giggling.

Eventually, the hair stylist came over and I tried to explain what I wanted for my hair through explanation, photos, google translate, etc. She said “okay” and grabbed her scissors. I was so nervous by this point I had to focus on something else, this is when the kid opposite of me caught my eye in the mirror. This… 8 year old?… little boy had a head full of perm curlers, a smock, a phone with a loud cartoon playing, and some crunchy snack that he was smackin. Kid was living his best life honestly. Throughout the hair cut my stylist would walk away and start doing someone else’s hair and a different woman would come over and start straightening my hair, this happened a few times and then boom I was done!

Overall, it was a comical experience and I am for once happy with a haircut. I suppose that is my big update for the day.
